Betty
Perkins-Carpenter, Ph.D., president of Senior Fitness Productions, Inc.,
has made a life-long career of teaching people of all ages to be
swimmers and divers, to be physically fit, and to be safe and secure in
their activities of daily living.
A former diving coach in the 1976
Olympics, she has coached men’s and women’s diving teams on the high
school and college level. She is the Founder and President of Senior
Fitness Inc. ,the popular Perkins Swim Club, Inc. ,and the
internationally well-known fitness program for pre-schoolers, Fit by Five, Inc.
Dr. Perkins-Carpenter served on the President’s Council
on Physical Fitness and Sports and was a speaker at the White House
Conference on Aging. She has appeared on national broadcast outlets and
in publications as an acknowledged expert in fitness for senior
citizens.
She is the author of many articles and books, including the
popular How To
Prevent
Falls: Better Balance, Independence and Energy in 6 Simple Steps,
now re-issued in an expanded and updated edition.
Dr. Perkins-Carpenter holds an undergraduate degree in
physical education administration, a master’s
degree in childcare administration, and received her doctorate
in health administration.
She has taught at the University of Rochester, St. John Fisher College in Rochester
and remains active as a consultant, lecturer, teacher and advocate on
issues related to fitness and safety for senior citizens.
